Hubris, Hold the Public Shaming

Tired of publicly flogging Paul Christoforo for his douchebaggery, but still have some pent-up spleen to vent? The waning days of 2011 may offer no better target than Derrick Saunders, the Denver cop who thinks being fired for DUI and driving 143 in a 55 zone last year is unfair. On the other hand....

It's not his first time in trouble. The former officer was earlier charged (but not convicted) with threatening a McDonalds drive-thru employee with a gun when his breakfast order took too long. So maybe he's not really "cop" material.

But before we bring the full power of the internet to bear on making Derrick as miserable as possible, perhaps it's worth finding out a little bit more about him. For instance, you may be interested to know that his son Jeremiah died at day care a year ago last week.

How does knowing a little more about Derrick change our feelings and response to this news item? How should it change them?

This post was deleted for the following reason: While this is a neat idea it's pretty much the exact definition of editorializing and not appropriate for an FPP here. -- restless_nomad

Yes, but are there funny email transcripts and catchphrases?

Or, we could just hold the blue to a higher standard and not perpetuate the rage du jour dans ici.
