Help for Online Diarists "Whiny, pretentious, or boring. Take your pick."

I can heartily endorse the "make things up" recommendation. I've found that the more I make things up, the more people seem to pay attention.

I should probably be depressed about this. Since it indicates I have to lie to make my life interesting. But somehow it just becomes too satisfying and addictive. Soon I will be chronicling my sex parties with Al and Tipper Gore in Tijuana.

I, myself, decided not to bother with a traditional web log because I simply don't have enough to say. When the urge to write strikes me, I write an essay and add it to my "essays" page. The rest of the time I work on my CDMA FAQ, which at least is useful.

In fact, I'm grateful for MetaFilter, because when I do find something I feel like linking to I can do it here, and no longer feel frustrated. So except for a few links relating to CDMA, I don't even have a "favorite links" page on my web page. For instance, I don't have a link to blowing up a dead whale with dynamite or starting a charcoal grill with five gallons of liquid oxygen even though I actually know the URLS.
