The Cypress Hill bassline is slightly flatter than the Joan Jett chords, so when they "come together" it sounds sludgy to me. Couldn't they have adjusted the pitch of one of them, or is that against mash-up rules?

Thanks! I'm always on the lookout for great new mashups. The best ones, in my opinion, ante the ones where, when you start to listen to the original songs, make you want to switch over to the mashed version instead. My favorite mashups remain Wax Audio's Mashopolos series. His (?) mash of Miles Davis and AC/DC is transcendent. I also love DJ Lobsterdust (his Queen vs. Rev. Gary is surprisingly fun and danceable) and dj bc. I like Girl Talk on a technical level, but man do I get tired of the gangsta samples on top of everything.

As far as mashups go, that first link is a masterpiece It is pretty damn good, but wasn't it also already linked on the blue? I thought that's how I first found it. Is it just me, or was Best of Bootie really weak this year? For me it's felt downhill since 2006, or maybe even 2005. One of those was a mashup masterpiece, I forget which though.

I have Metafilter to thank for the discovery that I love mashups. I think it was one of last year's Christmas mashup threads that sparked it but here I am a year later and I can't get enough of them. Anyway, I came back to this thread even after closing it just to say that the Metallica/Stevie Wonder one second down on this page is great. Simple, but so catchy.
