Wow. Nicely done. posted by bz at 8:32 AM on January 10, 2012
I hoped this is what this would be.
Really well done, and also, pleasantly amusing while still allowing outrage. posted by six-or-six-thirty at 8:36 AM on January 10, 2012 [1 favorite]
Out of all the weird Photoshop beautifying techniques, the skinnying thing weirds me out most. This is probably because I imagine their poor arm bones being squeezed like a sponge in a vice. posted by Uppity Pigeon #2 at 8:36 AM on January 10, 2012

I'm a really non-fan of the race adjusting. :/ But the skinnying is also incredibly disturbing in its own way. posted by six-or-six-thirty at 8:37 AM on January 10, 2012 [1 favorite]
The skinnying is disturbing cause the people in the photos are already at high levels of super-fit/thin whatever and then the photo editor goes "Nope! still not enough! Make it look like they have no bones!" Cause this stuff is all about unattainable standards. posted by The Whelk at 8:40 AM on January 10, 2012 [2 favorites]
Mask / Reveal All.
Every teenage girl should see this. Well done. posted by davebush at 8:41 AM on January 10, 2012
(oh! about the pro-pixel line, hilarious, and reminds me of my friend's comment about how all advertising is sympathetic magic. Pearls are shiny, if you put a picture of a pearl on a bottle of skin lotion then it will make me shiny. Positive theory of contamination!) posted by The Whelk at 8:42 AM on January 10, 2012 [2 favorites]
I had a feeling that anyone with the user name spikeleemajortomdickandharryconnickjrmints would love the phrase "PRO-PIXEL INTENSIFYING FAUXTANICAL HYDRO-JARGON MICROBEAD EXTRACT FEATURING NUTRITIVE VOLUMIZING TECHNOLOGY" posted by kuanes at 8:45 AM on January 10, 2012 [6 favorites]
My only complaint (and it's a small one) is that the title gives away the joke. So tempted to forward this to all the fashionistas I know. posted by kurumi at 8:52 AM on January 10, 2012 [1 favorite]
makes me think of the dove video... which i still think is amazing....
Yes, that particular campaign is very nicely done, but don't forget that Dove is a brand owned by Unilever who also own a whole boatload of personal care brands, many of the adverts for which, I'm sure, feature plenty of Fotoshop. When it suits them to play it natural they do, when it doesn't they don't. posted by jontyjago at 9:10 AM on January 10, 2012 [1 favorite]
This is both an excellent send-up of the stupidity of photoshopping and the stupidity of cosmetics commercials in general. So its a win on multiple levels. posted by jacquilynne at 9:30 AM on January 10, 2012 [2 favorites]
