This is a cool idea for an interface. The one thing I wish is that the decades were clickable.

I was surprised to see that Maya Deren wasn't even listed, but then I realized that "Handmade Cinema" seems meant to describe a specific type of film -- a subset of "experimental" that involves scratching on, painting on, or otherwise manipulating film stock to create new imagery. It would be ideal if there were more than just one (usually YouTube) sample for each artist, but still pretty neat.
