And in the long run, the farmer will kill and eat both the rabbit and the sheep which, to me, gives this "fun" a gruesomely sad edge.

I don't think many farmers raise dwarf rabbits for meat. It's not really economically viable when you can raise meat rabbits for meat.

And the sheep in this video are not scared, they are flocking. Sheep have a very strong natural instinct to follow other sheep, so when one runs, they all do. Sheep are more stressed by isolation, so much that in certain breeds uniform pasture must be provided because the flocking instinct is so strong, they will not move away from other sheep to forage.

It's absolutely not in the best interest of the farmer to have their sheep regularly scared, particularly small farmers who milk twice a day, shear, and lamb their own sheep. Domestic sheep require handling more than just about any other animal, and stressed sheep are nearly impossible to deal with.

The rabbit is just making the sheep react, something pretty easy to do (sheep behave like that anyway), rather than herding them somewhere specific. Just making sheep mill about back and forth isn't all that useful or impressive.

It's a very cute bunny though, just not all that sheep-dog-like.

That is not a dwarf rabbit. He would probably make good eats.

And that rabbit is PISSED. Tail up, ears forward, and you can even see him snap at the sheep at least once. That rabbits does NOT like the sheep.

So basically the rabbit is showing it's natural rabbit behaviour and the sheep are responding with their normal sheep behaviour and it's not really working for anyone except the farmer. Who could have easily broken it up and let the sheep out after a minute or two of filming rather than dragging it out so long.

I had a pet rabbit as a teenager that used to love to play with our family's toy poodle. They were right around the same weight and height. They would chase each other all over, wrestle, hide and find each other. It was very sweet and both parties seemed to have a lot of fun. Occasionally though the rabbit would lose patience with the poodle and turn around and kick the crap out of her. Major muscles in rabbit hindquarters...

Also those people that tell you that you can housetrain rabbits so they just go in a specified area? Never worked for me.

I can only imagine the supercanine control the sheepdog is undertaking.

Personally, I hope the farmer kills and eats the sheepdog. It's the useless one around the farm.

Tame rabbits tend to be pretty high on the pecking order.

Our previous one terrified (and chased remorselessly) the cats, they used to have to travel through 'his' room jumping from one peice of furniture to the next. He was also the boss of my mum's collie (to be fair, collies are quite often highly intelligent, neurotic, wusses [which is why they are the best dogs, ever], so it being the boss of them isn't so hard).

We had to get our current rabbit neutered as he kept shagging the smaller cat. He isn't the big boss though, that's the guinea pig that we had to separate off as he kept head-fucking (literally) the rabbit.

Can't help feeling that large parts of my youth were wasted due to the lack of ubiquitous videography... used to have this goose that actually thought it /was/ a sheep. Particularly amusing at clipping and dipping time, when you had a fank pen full of sheep, with this head poking above the middle of them...

Well, wow, I loved the tune behind the video and I bet (anyone know?) it's the inspiration (and fits perfectly) for the title of one of my all-time favorite books.
