I thought about linking to this, from Adam's tweet, instead of going straight to the youtube. I'm not sure how much it matters; the video is still the same. posted by Mister Moofoo at 4:08 AM on February 3, 2012
Permits, safety
We don't have time? Get out of the firing line.
We lit the fuse and then ran.
Gotta duck when the shit hits the fan.
Next up on MeFi, someone got a cell phone video of Adam Savage farting. 150k views on YouTube. posted by charlie don't surf at 9:02 AM on February 3, 2012
That was great, especially for being Adam's first time singing and playing live.
That Commander song is by far my favorite Long Winters song and whenever I've had to chance to hear John sing it live, when he hits the first "crew compartments breaking up..." I get chills and I tear up every single time.
I'm not normally a guy that even listens to lyrics and I'm famously clueless about songs being about ghastly things my friends point out years after I've enjoyed them because i never listened or thought about the lyrics, but the very first time I heard Commander, I instantly figured out the shuttle story and the whole thing broke my heart and continues to every time I hear it. posted by mathowie at 1:05 PM on February 3, 2012 [1 favorite]
Oh man, that Commander song. So strong. I just listened to the joco cruise version at my desk and now I have to pretend that my pork chop and apple sauce lunch was too spicy. posted by gofargogo at 1:13 PM on February 3, 2012
Yeah, okay, Peter Brady. Sometimes my hearing is really awful when it comes to people talking, like I have the auditory version of aphasia or dyslexia, plus I managed to tinker too long with a one-link post. posted by Mister Moofoo at 3:49 PM on February 3, 2012
Peter Brady is what I said because my voice tends to crack on the high notes; this song is at the tippy top of my range.
Although now I wish I'd said "if I pee or break this shit...". That's far better.
The song poleaxed me when I first heard Roderick sing it. Kills me. Such a good song. However, I've practiced it enough in our house that I've driven EVERYONE in my family nuts with it. posted by asavage at 2:49 PM on February 4, 2012
