Needs a Bolero warning.

!! Totally forgot about this site. They say images from all 47 prefectures, but mostly it appears to be Tokyo or Tokyo area, and Hokkaido. Putting in a postal code for somewhere else got me a couple of images from there, and then went back to the Tokyo/Hokkaido images.

You know the retail guy from Apple became the CEO of JC Penney, right? In my opinion, he can take 'inspiration' from Apple stores if he wants, be he should be directly ripping off Uniqlo at every opportunity. (Other than making clothes in larger sizes.)

The music is very Katamari Damacy. I love it.

Maybe it's just Japanese ...

Rubber Duck Project looks awesome.

Also: anyone have any insight into how this was done? A specific lens or something? Some of them look pretty normal zoomed-out stuff, some of them look like it's something in miniature.

Holy cow there's CURLING! Don't know what it is about that sport, I could watch it for hours, mesmerized.

Also, I haven't listened to FPM for years. Maybe it's time I fire up Luxury and let it be my soundtrack for the afternoon...

Uniqlo is one of my favorite clothing stores, both because of their clothing and their advertising. I wish one would open in Philadelphia.

It's kind of pleasantly hypnotic, although I was a bit annoyed that the "click to explore" meant "explore our pants" rather than "explore Osaka." If I am going to explore your pants, a little warning is appreciated.

(Other than making clothes in larger sizes.)

Or at least consistent sizes: As a thin but lanky gentleman visiting their New York flagship last year, I discovered that I am simultaneously both a small (short-sleeve tee) and extra-large (long-sleeve tee) customer. The clothes are a great value, though.

curious nu: tilt-shift, in conjunction with time-lapse. Probably one of the most famous tilt-shift / time-lapse videos is "Bathtub IV" by videographer Keith Loutit. Fantastic work by that guy. Inspiring.

Have to say this lifted me a bit. Excellent post.

I'm just here to say that I lust after Uniqlo. I got my winter peacoat while passing through London, UK, and it's been the best investment ever for Berlin winter.

I would make this my home page except I'm afraid I'd never get anything done ever again.

Fantastic Plastic Machine is indeed fantastic, and East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabaddi Champion '94's one and only (but definitely great) metafilter music post is one of the things that turned me on to them.

I only wish there were a way of picking which region you wanted the videos to come from.

I don't know how much time I spent watching the site yesterday, but I'm definitely going back for the other seasons. Loved the polar pear. Thanks.

What an excellent post!

If I was a polar bear I'd like me some blue bucket also.
