At one point a toothpaste ad started playing over the speech synth and I thought it was part of the game.

Why does Cyborg Mom keep telling me "You deserved it!" when I die and "Good boy!" when I do well? Is Cyborg Mom trying to pass on her self-hatred to her daughters?

I quit playing after 8 levels and ~130K points. It seems to be three stages that semi-cycle (the order is mixed up a little) endlessly.

Tip 1: Mouse control is the way to go.
Tip 2: Too much INCREDIBLE FIREPOWER is a bad thing, because your gun overheats so quickly. I had like 20-30 of them, and every time I hit space a solid wall of pixels would come out. Two or three of those and the gun would have to cool before I could fire again.
Tip 3: This is the big one: pick up the S orbs, for Shields, as often as you can. Later on when there are lots of enemies there are also similarly lots of shields. If you get them all you can spend most of the level invulnerable.

(And I think the female voice is GlaDOS working off some of her aggression.)

Reminds me of the game Xevious.

Am I the only one seeing a bunch of random colored bars flashing around?

Surprisingly addictive. Love the Atari mother ship.

I'm on linux (ubuntu 9.10.), works for me. (I got the flashing colored bars for awhile -- I think that's just the "loading" screen -- I think it's trying to be like the "test" screens on old arcade games.

Okay I quit after it became clear I was gaining lives faster than I was losing them and that wasn't going to change.

Still fun.

It's a fun game but after a certain point you can basically become invincible. It also crashed for me suddenly around 450k. I think because I had racked up too many lives, but I am not sure why.

Too easy. Crashed for me as well.

I had it crash on me too. Last thing it said was "I need medication."

This really needs to be full-screen - it's too easy to run your mouse to the edge of the screen and click off to a different browser tab. I love that your gun becomes a wall of pixels each time you pick up a new "F", super satisfying.

Man this is a lot easier once you figure out that rapid fire advance the bar at the top and the only way to get it back is to stop firing for a bit.

Once you have a fairly powerful gun, the trick is to keep grabbing the shields and then you can last forever.

I'm not sure, but that little banner at the top saying "SITE DOWN MAINTAININ' UR SERVERZ" might have something to do with that.

Anyone know how to turn off the sound on this thing?
