DIY WALL-E

The WALL-E Builders Club formed in October 2007 as an offshoot of the R2 (yes that one) builders club, to create their own WALL-E replica. This is their current progress on the project.

Also, the R2 builders gallery is another level of nerdtastic.

I am sadly wasting my life with family, work and the pursuit of knowledge.

Does it play music from Hello Dolly? That would be a nice touch.

WALL-E looks like the offspring of Number 5 from Short Circut.

I need to go lay down, and figure out to buy or steal it.

Ok, maybe not steal it, but get close and mumble.

They're destined for disappointment. Wall-E isn't physically realizable, since there's not actually room inside his body for all his parts to fold inside. Like the 3D model Pixar made for him has a TARDIS-like interior to hold all the parts.

They are Star Wars model building nerds, I think after the prequels, they can handle all sorts of disappointment.

There is an absolutely special joy to seeing the R2 clubs out and about. You get that weird kind of rush like at Disneyland or something: unreality steps convincingly out into the plane of reality. I saw a group at the SF Maker Faire a couple years back and man is it neat to see a bunch of them together.

I own a transforming toy that comes pretty close though, so I think they can figure something out.

So this "club" is two elderly nerds? Is there some minimum level of membership before adults get to call themselves a club? I mean, sure, G.R.O.S.S. had only two members and was very exclusive, but these guys are adults.

wilful, I believe the minimum is 2.
