The print edition of this article (in the New York Post) includes a large and amusing photo of bin Laden with a zoom on his watch. The pic isn't on the Web article, though. Please post a visual link if you can find one.

Osama has no problem with capitalism, just US occupation of areas considered holy by his religion and US support of Israel. I mean, he comes from a big Saudi Arabian oil family. How do you think he gets the cash to fund his attacks?

Since we are talking about background to Fearless Leaders' video interviews, I must say that the sport kites in the background of Bush's televised address were much more fun too look at. Kinda added a comic quality to the whole thing...not that Bush needs any help, mind you.

hey - adampsyche - are you sure that's what they were? i also found myself watching the windows a lot more than watching bush it looked like the second pane from the left, right at his shoulder, caused really sever distortion i thought the "kites" were reflections of things/people around the camera, or something but it did strike me as very odd

Way back in the '60's, Timex had a classic ad campaign: "Timex- takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'". They they would strap Timex watches onto boat propellers, etc. to show their toughness. Let's drop a cruise missile on his watch and see if the new generation watches are as tough.

As far as those "kites". I thought they were kites too. But if you notice every so often they swirl in a fashion that might have been influential to Bush's cadence. My impression is, the "reflection" or "kite" over his right shoulder was a speech coach "conducting" Bush's speech.
