I read somewhere that all dogs evolved from aquatic apes.

So, so awesome.

Amazing. Especially the spaniel (?) that ends up looking like an aquatic Ewok gone bad.

My dogs are not swimmers. One of them likes to lie in mud puddles in the filthy alley, but she won't go near the swimming pool.

first picture: HORRIFYING. closed window immediately. F------ would not look again. (also: we just wrecked the server.)

seriously I know they're happy and all; I just wasn't expecting the first photo to be such a closeup!

These are fun. Like, adorable angry seals fun. Also, dog #4 looks ridiculously like my puppy, right down to the whites of his oversized eyes.

In my nightmares tonight, I am going to be a ball under water, and these things will be coming to get me.

What do you call 4,000 dogs underwater?

Also, YAY! Dogs underwater!

These are great, but why do photographers and architects insist on horrid flash sites with low quality images.

A good start! Come on cat people!

I was really surprised to see that they keep their eyes open.

Heh. These are fantastic.

(Also, my pooch enjoyed the prominence of Kong's Squeaker Tennis Balls, the only suitable option for discriminating dogs)

Ah, our fuzzy-wuzzy wittle furry sharks. Like sleeping with a velociraptor at the foot of your bed. With a cute bow on it. Only the dog is not so much a clean mean killing machine like the raptor but more an indiscriminate scavenger that will eat any dead smelly thing it finds. Then curl up in your bed.

I love our dog.

Mostly.

The toothy ones looked alarmingly like sealions snacking on fish. Not something I would want to see next to me while swimming.

damn I love dogs! Goofy, scary, toothy things that they are.

If I were a tennis ball this would give me such nightmares.

That was laugh-out-loud great. Who knew they became killing machines once they hit the water?

I don't have flash installed, but I remembered seeing some pics of diving dogs... Are these the same pics?

I like how all the photos are neatly divided into two categories: VICIOUS BEAST-SHARKS OF THE DEEP and Befuddled Goofball

I was a dog in a previous life and I can tell you that this sort of thing is not as much fun as it looks.

Playing catch is fun. Somebody throws the ball and you have to go find it and bring it back. Sometimes the ball rolls behind a bush, or into deep grass, and you have to look around to find it. But when you find it and bring it back, everybody is quite excited and that's quite a rush. it was one of my favorite games.

But throwing the ball into the water is different. When they throw the ball in the water and you go in after it, there's no guarantee that the ball will stop. It can keep sinking, further and further down. And you keep after it, but after a while you don't have much air left, and you keep paddling down, down, because you want that ball. And your head gets dizzy, and you give up and you come back up for air, and they're pretty happy to see you. But not as happy as when you get that damn ball.

You humans need a better hobby.

About 75% of these need a little thought balloon that says, "FAFE HAF TOO MUFF DRAG!" because yeah, they look vicious as hell until you realize that they just want that tennis ball but evolution has saddled them with a drift anchor for a mouth.
