Mr. Happy Man

Every workday morning Johnny Barnes has greeted Bermudians just to let them know how much he loved them. And after many years they love him right back. It's a simple story about the power one man has to make other people happy. Meet Mr. Happy Man. (Vimeo Link.)

Absolutely lovely. If ever I go back I will make a point of going by and waving.

Do you think he smells like nutmeg? I think he smells like nutmeg.

No. Leather and car exhaust.

Johnny Barnes can still be found at the roundabout on Crow Lane outside Hamilton, Bermuda every weekday from 4 A.M. to 10 A.M.
They're crazy hours. He should renegotiate his workplace agreement.

I think he is a lamedvavnik or a Bodhisattva. Whatever he is, I'm glad he's alive and doing what he's doing. This video made my day better. Seriously. Thanks for posting this, elwoodwiles.

A very welcomed post after the barrage of anti-Valentine's Day sentiment I've heard over the last several days. Thank you for posting!

Mister Barnes will not exceed the speed limit and you can tell if you are stuck behind him. He will signal when it is safe to pass, however.

That is so cool :)

I do find it kind of strange that they've put up a sculpture of him already, while he's still there every day.

Oh, at the end there I thought the story was going to take a sad turn. But no, they got the statue (and what a beauty it is, too!) and they kept the real guy, too.

This was just so heartwarming I almost can't stand it! Johnny Barnes is the very model of what every human being should aspire to be like...a true role model and a real gift from God if ever there were one!

I want to go there!

(also, it gets cold enough in Bermuda that you can see your breath and you need to wear a parka when you ride your scooter in the morning? Did not know.)
