Apparently these guys were cheap about everything--hotels, meals, drinks. I guess the economic slowdown hits everyone's T&E liberties. Seems like they might have wanted to apply for credit cards, in retrospect. Just one more thing I don't understand about these folks.

shtupid.. I read in the Guardian or somewhere today that the FBI thought that only 5 of the hijackers knew they were gonna die, the rest just thought they were hijacking the plane as the 5 piloty people were trained and wrote letters saying goodbye (yeah). Also, all of the hijackers, well, suspected hijcakers seem to have been pretty shoddy muslims, virtual alcoholics etc.. I reckon drug-induced brain-washing. Or something so completely off the wall, nobody will expect it when the truth comes out.. Hey, its happened before, nobody but a movie writer would have thought of the 11th..

I would get really really ripped the night before, eat all the beef, turkey and salmon jerky I could lay my fundamentalist hands on, then hopefully pass out and sleep through the whole hijacking-planes-and-crashing-them-into-buildings thing. Either that or call in sick: "H-Hello? Is Mr Atta there? *cough* I don't think I c-can *COUGH* make it to the airport today." Actually the drinking and jerky is pretty much what I do most nights anyway.

Rebecca: this seems more plausible to me than the Boston police department, a driver for escort services and a prostitute all working for the CIA. I dunno, am I missing something here? Sure, they had the conviction to die for their faith, but people don't always act consistently.

Unfortunately, I think Rastafari is right. I also think that on my last day in Boston, I would dance in the relfecting pool down by the Christian Science Center, then steal a shitload of fried dough from a street vendor. Also, I might sit on that huge tree halfway down the Esplanade. Then I'd climb into the Hatshell, eat my fried dough and yell really loud, trying to pick up chicks. My DNA thinks it's a good idea.

Relationships are all about the person; the body is nice (yes, very nice), but an afterthought. I obviously don't know you, so you get automatic benefit of the doubt. But a lot of guys (and, less commonly, girls) use "DNA" as an excuse for irresponsible behavior. If you feel compelled to play the field while dating, or if you're just interested in action, maybe you ought to take a close look at who you're dating and why. Anyway, I think you said something about tangents?

Maybe I'd take the Red Line over to Harvard Square, browse the book stores, pick up a Harper's or New Yorker at Out of Town News, get a coffee and muffin at Au Bon Pain, and sit outside watching the people. Or maybe I'd call an old local friend or two and meet them at the Plough and the Stars. But if I were one of the men scheduled to slap an "Allah is my co-pilot" bumper sticker on a 767 the next day, it probably wouldn't really have been my last night. I think I might have ended up at the last minute turning that airliner around, taking it down to Cuba, and trying to trade it for a beach hut and regular deliveries of cold beer.
