I was hoping they'd mention Hindemith, but they fit in Stockhausen, so I'm impressed. This was pretty great.

Well not that much, slkinsey. Mozart was Austrian. And there was Frenchman Debussy too. It just occurred to me that while this piece truly is a masterpiece it is regrettably low on Russsians (I'm thinking Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, Glazunov, etc.), although I did hear Borodin's name at one point.

Oh and maybe it's just me, koeslitz, but Paul Hindemith is one of the only composers whose work I have listened to that I did not find at least some kind of redeeming quality in. I'd much rather have Messiaen :).

There were a couple of sections there where they went through a LOT of names. (Either side of WAAAAAAAAAGNER.) Could make out very few names. Need a lyrics sheet. Re Messian v Hindemith: other way around for me. But not by much. Cage beats 12-tone, only because he's quiet a lot.
