Buddyhead! Is it dead?! I randomly checked out Buddyhead.com and noticed that it was "403 Forbidden." Anyone know the story? It'd be a sad day if it was good and gone. . .

Google's cache of buddyhead.com. Unfortunately, it doesn't help because of the javascript redirect. What was the site about anyway?

It's a band's site, the gossip section had lots of funny gossip about bands, posting phone numbers belonging to fred durst and sum 41, nasty stuff about weezer.

It was mostly a music news site. Run by some hardcore boys down in Los Angelooos. They had a rumors section and sex advice and all around funny funnyness.

Were they the ones that had it in for Fred Durst? Somewhere there is a kindred spirit to mine in this massive cavalcade of loathing for that man...

Buddyhead isn't a band's site, it's a record label out of East LA. They've released some stuff by the Icarus Line, Text, At the Drive-In, Murder City Devils, and I think they're putting a CD out by The Revolution Smile sometime next year. They also have a gossip page, which is know around the music scene for pissing people (i.e. shitty bands and their management) off.

They've been having some problems with exceeding their server bandwidth ever since Grand Royal went out of business, which they were partially hosted on. So one of two things is happening. 1) They've found a new host, and are in the process of moving shit around off the now defunct Grand Royal site. Or 2) they've exceed their bandwidth limit, and are going on hiatus for a while until they can raise some money or find a cheaper host.

In either event, I don't think they're out of business for good. I just think their site's gonna be down for a bit. I know the forums went down about 3 weeks ago

And oh yeah, they have a problem with Fred Durst. They don't like him. Few months back they broke into his office, stole 3 of his red hats, sold them on ebay and donated the proceeds to a rape charity.

They're pretty bomb.

Blatant self-link, but it's in context: I played a nifty hoax on Buddyhead some time ago. I'm sad to see Buddyhead go, if only because some of the links in that story will have ceased to function. (Yes, several months ago, I posted that link to the main page. I was being a dumb-ass. I apologize.)

Also, the guys behind the Gossip page certainly appeared to be a bunch of jerks, who preferred slagging off others to actually having something to say. I remember reading Buddyhead shortly after the attacks on 11/9/01 and being very disappointed.

Marquis: That's hilarious. Buddyhead's gossip writers have a Drudge-like commitment to accuracy.

Marquis: Blatant. But very funny, esp. the Rootnode 'Interview' - The few noble kangaroos that circulate are vastly outnumbered by nasty crocs and dumb orangu-tangs, not to mention the sleazy wallabees and wicked wombats. Metaphorically speaking, you're always dipping your hand into a gucky pouch, or trying to find some more bunyips to hurl at the Opera House.

I read that interview and was surprised to hear her (er, you) mention that she (er, you) wanted to work with the Lucksmiths, one of my favorite groups. Their label's website even mentioned it in a news update. That's very funny.

Buddyhead rules, by the way. Don't be a pussy. :)

Marquis- Very well done.

Buddyhead also had the habit of going to the punkrock.net messages, collecting e-mail addresses, and spamming like crazy.

SweetJesus, your hunch was correct [see front page entry for Thursday, October 11 6:31 PM].

We're sorry that the site had been down the past few days. It's been down due to our lack of ability to pay for the massive amounts of bandwidth we've been pulling, not due to some fat dude without a sense of humor at some shitty label sueing us. We'll be switching to our new server by the end of the week so all of this should be cleared up by then. Hang tight campers.
