That stuff by Cayce Zavaglia is completely bananas.

The actual stitching is really neat, but I'm sorry: every single one of those people has a name that sounds like it's off the From: line in an email about G3N3R1C C1AL1S.

Wonderful, provocative, exciting, original. These portraits knocked me right out of my chair. Thanks so much for posting, this work is as refreshing as a spring breeze.

So, embroidery is traditionally a women's thing and therefore uncool, but if you call it stitching or stitchery it's art and therefore cool? Do I have the vocabulary right? (Or am I just extra-super-prickly today?)

?

Some of it's embroidery, and some of it's quilting. "Stitching" covers all of that. It's hardly controversial.

Hm. I guess I didn't come across very much quilting when I poked around.
