OK, that's just plain neat. Would be a great toy for kids, which makes me wonder how much it costs to make that capacitive plate.

Oh. My. God. I have a stepson who loves jello more than anything in the world. Is this a thing a person could shop for? Is there a kickstarter? How does this make its way into his life?

O cool! The local hacklab did this last week! Room 101, the board is just a sheet of wood plus a sheet of foil with with the Arduino doing the capacitive sensing. Check out the PDF linked at the video.
