Book trailers? Do people really care about YouTube categories?

You will note that while Google has made serious, extremely well-organized attempts to purchase and control all out-of-print literature and create a massive online digital library, they have not bothered to create a "literature" category for YouTube, revealing once again that they would be terrible shepherds for the human inheritance of written knowledge.

This is fantastic satire!

...right?

Your definition of literature is wrong. QED.

You know, I really agree with the sentiment but that tongue-in-cheek/fist-in-the-air faux-manifesto tone of the whole thing is just incredibly obnoxious.

Expecting YouTube to even be "shepherds for the human inheritence of written knowledge" in the first place was probably their first mistake.

Good literature paralyzes your orgasm.

This person and I would not get along. I mean, I admit it's just a guess, but I'm pretty sure.

Honestly the categories on YouTube are pretty bad. Here's my suggestion:

  • TV episodes split across five videos

  • The top half of someone's head staring at a point five inches below the webcam lens

  • Still images of album covers

  • People opening boxes of stuff they bought

  • Pets & Animals

We must change the DNA of the internet and begin the mutation process if we are going to help the internet grow that most unnatural but precious of vestigial appendages: a soul.

When you put it that way, I think I'll just stick to the cat videos.

I was surprised the author didn't describe anything as "transplendent."

How about simply a fight to get Google to de-Google-fy YouTube altogether.

Somehow I hear Truman Capote's nasal whine saying "there's nothing as transplendent as a paralyzed orgasm."

    And now you are, too.

I hear Dolph Lundgren barking this just before he kicks a villain in the neck.

You know those Youtube videos that are just recordings of someone playing a record while the song plays? I think the literature category should be recordings of someone putting the camera in front of a book and then slowly, slowly, turning the pages.

you know what, fuck it, more power to them

i am forever excited at the internet's capacity to confuse the living shit out of me with bold new ways of being people

Miracle Jones, the lit-vid crusader in question (previously, previously) has, in the meantime, begun a curation of the type of videos one might find in a YouTube Literature category, were one to ever exist, over on the Reddits.

(Full disclosure: Mr. Jones is a pal of mine and has appeared on my radio show several times. He is a swell fellow.)

It was the best of cats. It was the worst of cats.

whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous cats

All happy cats are alike; every unhappy cat is unhappy in its own way.

A screaming nyancat comes across the sky.

I guess I really do have nothing.
