Our library has slanted book shelves

In honor of National Library Week, a man who does not like librarians.

"Instead of honorably reflecting the people's clear voice at the ballot box regarding basic values, our local government has either ignorantly or complicitly paid attention only to the destructive, discordant, out-of-balance, Radical Militants of the ALA."

...Their replacements are books like A Woman in Heat Wiping Herself, or Outside the Operating Room of a Sex-Change Doctor and Rainbow Boys, a story of three homosexual boys and the various routes they took in 'coming out.' "

"social-activist bosses of the American Library Association" has been added to my list of "words unlikely to appear in the same sentence".

Actually my wife the library assistant grumbles at having to provide people with copies of books by Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul, and in fact they're often prominently on display because it's in THAT sort of county.

But she at least understands why those books are there, alongside the "how not to kill yourself because society thinks you're an abomination" books that this bozo wants removed.

Libraries are an antidote to Fox News.

"Mike Thompson is past chairman of the 5,000-member, nonpartisan Florida Conservative Union."
Um....is it just me or are "nonpartisan" and "Conservative" (or "Liberal", for that matter) in the same sentence somewhat contradictory?

Hmm. This gentleman appears to believe that The Great Physician's RX for Irritable Bowel Syndrome contains "themes that are a thinly disguised ridicule of [the Christian] faith."

Hmm.

Foosnark: "Libraries are an antidote to Fox News."

But some people are so addicted to the poison, the antidote not only isn't something they want to take, they want everyone else's souls to die along with them.

I know you can't argue logic with the illogical but:

"There are no titles for heterosexuality..."

Except for, you know, every single one except for the 18 gay-themed ones he mentions.

If having 18 books about homosexuality (one of them anti-gay even by Mike Thompson's standards, which makes me think that it must be written by Fred Phelps himself) makes the Fernandina branch library Gay Pride Inc., then my apartment must be the Chicago HQ. (Though I'm pretty sure Gerber/Hart would take offense at that. And, you know, just about every queer person I know.)
