A Federal Judge OKs deep linking to commercial websites. I'm very happy to see this, since hypertext and hyperlinks are the basis of the web. Hell yeah!

Tickets.com praised Monday's decision, saying it would clear the way for other new Internet companies to engage in hyperlinking. Hyperlinking! Why didn't anyone think of this before! What a great and unique idea.

Thank goodness someone figured out that whole "hyperlink" thing. I was getting worried this web thing wasn't going anywhere! Actually, the funniest part is that it would take but a couple of lines of code to redirect people hitting a deep page from somewhere besides Ticketmaster to the home page instead and thwart the competition anyway. So why waste all this money on the lawsuit?

Actually, that's what Ticketmaster used to do to sidewalk.com when they linked to the "deep" pages on ticketmaster.com. There was this page saying "you have followed an unauthorized link blah blah." Then Microsoft sold sidewalk to citysearch, which got bought by ticketmaster, so no big deal. Shrug.
