I have mixed feelings about the message, but I'm loving the early Pet Shop Boys vibe.

The first 30 seconds was funny. Then there was horrible singing.

This made me think of Foodspotting. Whenever I see a Foodspotting post on facebook, I think, what, are you trying to make me jealous of what you're putting in your mouth right now?

Because it's working.

Wow, I have a few east coast friends on Facebook who do EXACTLY this (minus the music--or maybe they do music, too; they just don't know how to upload it yet).

So, is it no longer possible to do hipster parodies without staring into the FOTC event horizon?

I was thinking more along the lines of Lonely Island, but... yeah.

I too felt the Pet Shop Boys vibe. And then it really hit me who they sounded like... Camouflage!

Considering everything we hear about food and food production these days Its so much easier and healthier to just take pictures of food rather than eat it.

I love soup / don't call me a nazi / I'm more like the culinary paparazzi.

Hilarious. Would watch people watching food again.

I remember the 80s. A lot of cocaine and margueritas and mushrooms. And shitty food. I don't really know this alternate universe where this takes place.

My personal experience has been that this is a tech-savvy yuppie thing more than a 'hipster' thing. There is some overlap, sure, but most of the people I know who share pictures of high-end food are more on the young urban professional side, and decidely un-hipsterish. The hipsters are too busy sharing blurry photos of obscure laptop musicians.

I have a facebook friend who, I guess through his company, gets regular court-side seats to NBA games.

He posts facebook pictures of them every single week with a caption like "courtside!".

What the caption basically means though is "HAHAHA SUCKERS I BET YOU SIT IN REGULAR POOR PEOPLE SEATS. CHECK ME OUT. I'M COURTSIDE. WHAT NOW. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT, YOU WISH YOU WERE ME. AWWW YEAH. [High-fives self]"

I have this one Facebook friend who's constantly posting these little updates about the gourmet delicacies he's eating:

...lunches on fenugreeky pastirma beef and French feta with a drizzle of blood orange olive oil

...sips his morning cuppa over a panful of roasting seeds; cumin, fennel, coriander, lovage, all for marinating this afternoon's lamb chops

...tucks into this morning's leftovers scramble with filipino pork adobo, dandelions, dressed with garlic chives and sri racha

...succumbs to the last of the pumpkin clove ice cream at Molly Moon's

...slathers the pork shoulder with achiote paste and tucks the mess into banana leaves with garlic, onion and thick-cut cinnamon sticks.

...goes for the double station burger, chili cheese fries and boozy red light milkshake at Station Eats.

...thinks it sounds like a roast heirloom chicken, grits and deep fried brussels kind of night. Oh, and malbec.

...teaches his firstborn the grilling of mocha java sirloins while rice percolates and broccoli bakes in cheese and roasted poblano.

...was unable to escape the Django Rossini burger, crowned in foie and truffle, bathed in demi-glace, served with duck frites and a harissa aioli.
