This is one of the situations where a well composed photo would be far more effective than a nausea-inducing video attempting to catch all the angles.

This is definitely best of the webbed feet.

I was glued to that video, much like the frog was to the bench.

The YouTube description claims "There is no nails, no glue, animal abuse, etc." - - but says nothing about simple dignity nor respect.

That frog had all the gravitas of an old Republican senator from the mid-50s. Do not look down on the frog or your bill will be sidelined in committee for the rest of your term.

One wonders how "dignity" or "respect" are violated by videotaping a frog sitting on a bench.

Does what it says.

I could spend a lifetime pondering the question - is that frog's face conveying utter boredom or sheer terror?

So was the frog taking a walk and needed to sit down and rest for a bit? Or was he placed there by a member of a different species with a camera?

You REALLY should know the answer to this, what with living in Japan and all. Just go look at some youtube videos of cats wearing costumes, and then consider that it is merely a matter of degrees; like the grain of sand in the oyster, the great can be born of the insignificant.
Silly costumes are the next obvious step. Now that I think of it...you don't know where to buy any frog-sized bowler hats, do you?

Marlon: Everyone is familiar with government offices and the creatures that inhabit them. And through diligent research, much is known about the activities, food and natural predators of the mature bureaucrat. But, for hundreds of years, scientists have been searching for evidence of a juvenile bureaucrat.

Marlon: Tonight, on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, our team of scientists will reveal, for the first time, the results of a dangerous mission to the suburbs of Washington D.C. where we've discovered, documented and filmed these reclusive animals in their native habitat. Sunday, at 7pm, on your NBC station.

Marlon: Dealing with bureaucracies in your times of need? That's why you need Mutual of Omaha by your side. Our agents and underwriters know best how to help.

Now you are just being an apologist for the paparazzi....

I think it's actually a top hat you might be looking for.

It occurs to me that the uploader should've sampled and looped the first line of Aqualung, over and over, as the soundtrack for the clip:

"sitting on a park bench - sitting on a park bench - sitting on a park bench - sitting on a park bench ..."

It's one of my favorite '... like a human' videos. Second only to goat screams like a man.

I love that the ad displayed with this video was Senior Dating: UK.

Even if you are pensioner you might find your prince if you just kiss a few frogs.

A friend of mine saw this via the 'What's hot on Google+' feed. One comment stuck out:

"Of course you're not compelled to share my views. Im not sure myself. Just observed a weird shape on its back and that staying thus is quite abnormal. And it's a well known fact that some people would do anything to shoot a funny video. Some even let own children get knocked for that.
You can hammer a nail into the bench, pierce superficially the frog's skin and slide the nail under the skin; then some glue to fix the butt (notice the wet area next to the butt) and the frog wont die or move. Can't say it was done so, just considere it could have been done so. Or maybe now frogs can be taught to sit properly like humans.
I rather believe the former than the latter, but again, you're free to believe the opposite."

Vhanudux, damn, that might be what the uploader did. If so, I'd feel pretty lousy for posting this to Mefi. Should there come proof that that's what happened, I'd certainly ask the mods to pull this FPP.

I think it's naturally sitting that way. It's not the first image of a frog in such a pose - e.g. this.
posted by edd at 7:16 AM on April 25, 2012

You know what? At the 0:36 point of this clip, it definitely looks like there's something weird with this frog's back. Like, say, a nail, as mentioned in the comment that Vhanudux pasted. I'm going to ask the mods to delete this FPP.
