Reminds me a little of the Imaginary Image Blog, which started off as a spoof of tumblr cliches, but looks like it's recently taken a turn for the weird.

Best read in a Rutger Hauer voice: "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.... A dining room table made of driftwood. The singer Adele wrapped a wooly blanket. A wrought-iron canopy bed in a meadow."

Where's the weight loss spam? I'm getting about one email per week from Pinterest diet spammers, and given that there's no easy mechanism to report spammers (except on a pin by pin basis) it's only going to get worse.

So if these tweets are accurate Pinterest has actually become a parody of itself. Mind=blown.

This had a funny effect on me. For half of the tweets I was like, "I do want to see that! Where do I find it?" So I guess I should try Pinterest.

Well, that's it for me. The Internet has just raced past and left me choking in the cloud of its dust, doubled over, coughing and gagging, gasping for breath, and wondering just what the hell it means.

this is awesome and so right on.
though I admit, right now I'm a a little bit addicted to Pinterest. it'll probably pass. but it's interesting to see what other authors & writers pin as inspiration for their books and works-in-progress. in fact, I just compiled a lengthy list of YA authors and publishers on Pinterest. Maybe it would be funny if you were really into pinterest, like maybe these tweets are sublime jokes for those who understand the context.

From the outside though it seems to be taking the most boring aspects of pinterest and creating yet another meaningless twitter feed where the "joke" is how meaningless it is. Anyway, rather then complain about it I whipped up this pinterest without the text thing - which just shows you the images on their front page without any social networking nonsense, or anything else (not even hyperlinks).

Without all the nonsense, it's somewhat interesting. I guess.

Here's the correct link for PinterestFake.

Seems to aim at a conservative streak of Pinterest users that I didn't know about until now.

Ugh, autocorrect. Yes, “Fake” is the one.

“I CRIED:Dying child converts his bedroom into a beautiful indoor garden so that his mother will have still have something living to care for”

“Fill a hollowed out bell pepper with rum to drink rum out of.”

Oh my god.

The Fake Pinterest is great. Pinterest without pictures ... ? Eh.

Isn't Pinterest sorta like just another Tumblr theme? How is it any different than Tumblr? It seems like 50% of the pictures on Pinterest come from Tumblr ...

"How to convince your children that, in a way, Dumbledore was ALSO the bad guy."

Too true.

Yeah. I love Pinterest so I should* have the context to get the jokes, but Pinterest Without Pictures isn't hitting my funny bone at all.

Fake Pinterest is pretty funny, though.

*I can also be supremely unobservant so it's highly possible I've missed 98% of whatever context would transform these to hilarious in-jokes.

If interested in a little more critical perspective on Pinterest and why considering it comic fodder and dismissing those interested in it seems to be a bit of a trope, see the Pinterest and Feminism thread from a while back.
