Dan Savage wonders why we can't ignore what the Bible says about homosexuality, when we can selectively ignore all the other bullshit what it says about a wide array of issues and ideas.
Giving a keynote address at the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention, themed "Journalism on the Edge", Savage was too edgy for some in the crowd, who chose to up and leave when the idea of the Bible and hypocrisy was brought up.
The usual suspects are enjoying a meltdown. In response, Savage has posted a clarification.

Shocked! Shocked we are that national Gay-Rights figure Dan Savage speaking at a conference called "Journalism On The Edge" said something mean about the bible!
We are not manufacturing the outrage at all!

Some of the students seem genuinely uncomfortable, and many more seem oh-so-titillated by the naughtiness of walking out on a speaker.
