For anyone who can't view it: He first shoots a direct image on photo paper, then cleverly develops it in the box itself, in small trays. This is a negative print, about 2x3 inches. Then he water pastes it on a small portable backboard attached close to the lens, and makes positives from the negative print using the same process.

Well that was extremely awesome to see. I wonder how similar this would be to, say, Civil War era portrait photography.
