Hat's off to some brave ladies! I have only admiration for them, especially in the harsh environments of the Colombian and Sudanese journalists; not that ETA is child's play, just that Spain is relatively secure.
In a completely unrelated vein, doesn't the term 'Homeland Security' sound vaguely Nazi-ish?

Do you think that because in all those war movies and book the nasty evil German Nazis called their country the Fatherland which sort of sounds like Homeland?

To German propaganidists it was "the Fatherland." To Russian propagandists it was "the Motherland."
Apparently, PC White House flacks felt by making it a gender-neutral "Homeland" nobody would notice it was a police state contrivance with unlimited powers and no cut-off date.

This made me wonder where the expression 'hat's off' came from..
of course, it's a royal thing popularised by the victorians' etiquette obsession. probably.
Anne Coulter could learn a thing or two from these feisty ladies, i think.
