Adopt A Revolution: Syria Democracy & Human Rights

What projects did you help to finance by means of crowd funding? A book? A CD? Or philanthropic projects in developing countries? How about a political dimension to crowd funding? Now you can adopt a revolution! The site launched in late 2011 and strives to provide solidarity and financial support for Syria’s activists in the battle for human rights and democracy. Where is Syria headed in light of the recent escalation of violence and can our contributions help?

Ooh. OK. So how do I know that my money would go to actually supporting peaceful protesters, and how it would be used? I'm not finding a lot on the site to give me confidence that my donation isn't just going into some kind of hole where it will be picked apart by the many layers of bureaucracy and corruption that doubtless stand between the average American and the average Syrian. Also, while I'm pretty confident that the Syrian protests have been *mostly* peaceful (on the side of the protesters, I mean -- the government side has been brutal and awful) I'm also equally confident that there are more violent factions within the revolution as well, and I bet they want money too.

Anyway I fail to see how donating to this organization (which is accredited by whom, exactly?) is anything but a supremely terrible idea, as much as I am in support of peaceful revolution in order to depose tyrants and create more democratic, transparent, egalitarian, and free societies.
