No, you're thinking of the origin story of Edgar Winter.

These Birds, when you say bugger, are you referring to the human that is poaching an endangered species? Because that's what you're looking at in the disgusting picture you just linked.

Marshmallow beeps!!!

Some of the cutest little buggers in the bat world.

As far as a big fruitbat (flying fox) here's a wimpy lady holding a medium sized fella.

First comment, with which I heartily agree:
wow .that lady dont [sic] know how lucky she is to get to hold that guy

Bats is cool.
posted by BlueHorse at 9:27 PM on May 28, 2012

Oh my god, are you serious? I didn't realize that the bat wasn't alive anymore in that picture -- I thought they were feeding it. Crap, yes, those bastards. I didn't know they were poached.

Who's an adorable yet pivotal part of our ecosystem? Who keeps bug populations in check? Awwww

What, no trigger warning for people who had a bat fly in the house via the whole house fan and swoop in the room where the kids were sleeping after the cats proudly release their prize capture to mom??? NO TRIGGER WARNING?

No, for reals, those are pretty adorable. As long as they stay out of my house.

Bats in the house can be fun. You get to try to herd them to the open window/door. More fun than herding cats!

TANS: one house where I lived in the Sierras hosted a family of bats. They came in through the cooling pads of our swamp cooler and made a nest somewhere in the attic. Now and then they dropped out of the grid and flew down the stairwell, circled the living room, dining room, kitchen, and bedroom a few times before finding their way back to the second floor and out the cooler vent.

Guests were often taken aback.

Holy shit, is that the bat from A Neverending Story?!

I'm not insinuating that bats are drunkards, but when you watch them fly around and they make all their little clicky noises you could swear they're drunk.

Owls swoop, eagles soar, and bats thwip and flutter like big leathery moths on acid. Look at this guy, that is a drunken smile if ever I saw one.

I love bats.

The video really showed how instrumental the hind legs are to bat-flight. I never realized that. Neat.
