According to Google we're well on on way.

Then Google is wrong. People do fucked up things sometimes, it's weird how this kind of stuff is being fed into a horror movie narrative for amusement.

Somehow, this seems in poor… taste.

Just because you use Google Maps to do something doesn't make it "according to Google."

Lindy West on Jezebel: There is no Miami Zombie Apocalypse, just mentally ill people with no safety net. I am so sick of this lolhumansuffering meme.

I think this post needs to be... fleshed out a bit.

This is still in awful taste.

On the one hand, yes, if there were a zombie apocalypse, this is probably how it would start. On the other hand, the zombie meme is totally played and needs to just go away already.

Looks like we could all use some brains.

No zombies, just the collapse of civilization as we know it, which everyone knew was going to start in Florida. Meanwhile, Florida Governor Lex Luthor pledges to purge the voting rolls of Zombie Voters, which obviously are all Democrats.

Yeah, it's not so much "according to Google" as "according to some dude named Sam who threw something together using Google Maps".

1. I'm a sucker for visual displays of data using Google Maps, so in that specific way yes this is the top 1/2 maybe of the webs.

2. I always think of zombie-ism as being a Southeast, Caribbean type of disease and the data bears that out.

Pffft.... 'according to google', there's a whole bunch of countries outside the US, and I think we all know that that's bullshit.

But seriously, isn't this 15x 'Only in America'/'News of the weird' news, plus a map?

It also missed the whole "Low budget bi porn actor kills someone, then mails Conservative party of Canada a human foot and the Liberal party of Canada a human hand, then (possibly) flees to Europe bit.

I do wonder if you graphed these stories over time if there is a spike right now, or if we are just noticing them more.

The only results are in the US. Let me know when Madagascar decides to close its borders.

Just to be clear, this is a map made by somebody named "Sam", not by Google itself.

Also, I hope the zombies eat the Jezebel staff first. I understand humorless scolds taste terrible, but the rest of us (mostly) manage to eat our broccoli before our ice cream.

Can we talk about how zombies are completely played out and the sign of a mind devoid of creativity?

Isn't the world supposed to end on the 21st of December? We're a long way from that yet.

Well, it looks like *someone's* brain got eaten, and I suspect it left a bad taste.

When we get to the global warming/oil shortage/overpopulation/Spanish flu cannibal riots of 2043, people will be watching zombie movies in their bunkers and shedding a tear for a more innocent time.

So here we have this summer's shark attack story. Now all we need is a good bullshit right-wing screaming point and we're on our way.

Can't wait to see what's going to be waiting for us when we wake up in the fall.
