The roof, the roof, the roof is afire. Bloodhound Gang delivery to start. Rich Girl bored. IDGAF had me thinking "oh hey, a poor man's eminem, trying to be goofy and clever", and then the very next track they bring out the What's the Difference Dre/Em beat (which he acknowledges in the lyrics).

He can rap, and he has a nice little style. But he hasn't learned what to do with it yet. And I just do not get why people think it is something to go in on old beats. At least flip it or something if you're going to go over a beat TIMBO did like a decade or two ago. Then a Nelly beat. And it just gets worse and worse.

Except $ & $$$. Those are somewhat decent. He needs to cut 1/2 the tracks and double the fire. A year and a half later, there still isn't much here.

Gosh. I never thought I'd live to see the day when George Watsky made it to Metafilter a second time. Funny, quick on his feet, and an all around good guy too. Suffice it to say that, with all his talents, he made for one hell of a high school student body president.

Actually, what he needs is a good producer (a la Ant). Someone to tighten things up and provide a bit of perspective to his rather insightful lyrics.

My first exposure to Watsky was "The Difference is the Difference" and he KILLED it, man.

Title track was alright, and he really seemed to be spitting fire with the last three tracks.

On second (longer) listen: anyone else thinks he sounds like Paul Barman?

Of course people think he sounds like Paul Barman. He's a white, nerdy rapper. And we're on metafilter.

and also he sounds sorta like Paul Barman.

Paul Barman and Watsky both actually stink at rap.

I gots my own issues with Hall and Oates, but damn that's a good song.

Nina Simone

The Bird and the Bee

Danielle Ate the Sandwich

On second (longer) listen: anyone else thinks he sounds like Paul Barman

Somehow I read that as Tom Barman and was so confused. A rapping Belgian?

I wish he hadn't worn his sunglasses for the whole "Rich Girl" video. He's cute! Show us your peepers, Watsky!

Sunglasses are necessary for the yacht rock vibe of the original song.

broadway bill: " and also he sounds sorta like Paul Barman. "

you leave rapping elijah wood alone.

Honestly tho, I like this better Barman. Dunno why.

His slam poetry is a lot of fun. I saw him live, and he killed it with "V is for Virgin."
