Imodium: for those times when you're really not going to make someone's day by asking to go take a shit.

based on all his time-intensive character work I just assume Dougie Jones has no bowels or sweat glands.

Wow those are way more practical effects than I was expecting! I figured that muscly guy was probably at least 80% CG.

Looks straight out of the intro scene of altered beast ..

Those pictures really make me want to make that suit for cons. Looks like they made it with something like Dragonskin silicone. I've got 100lbs of sculpting clay and a fiberglass cast of myself out in the shop just waiting to be put to good use...

I feel like you would probably sweat to death if you did a full conforming silicone bodysuit for a con. You'd have to take advantage of the incredibly thick neck and work some fans into it.

I love the photo near the bottom where you can see the guy's regular head for comparison. Similar features, just half the width.

Keep trying. It comes up eventually.

Brings back memories of reading Starlog in 1985...

I still have all my Starlogs and Fangorias from the '80s and '90s. I'd love to spend a rainy weekend looking through them again.

One of the best parts is the ads for places where you can send away for $89.95 for videotapes of Blade Runner or win a Star Wars sweepstakes that will put a deluxe CRT television in your living room, plus the arcade game.

If only they'd put the same amount of care they obviously put into the design of the movie into the screenplay.

(Sorry. Can't help myself. So disappointed...)

That may well be true, but this is Ian Whyte.

Oh I know, i was just musing on Go-To Actors For When You Need Someone To Spend No Less Than Four Hours In The Makeup Chair.

Aww, who's got the cutest little pud? Yes you do! Yes you do!

based on all his time-intensive character work I just assume Dougie Jones has no bowels or sweat glands.

Fun fact: the catsuit that Jeri Ryan wore for the first season or two that she played Seven of Nine had to be sewn onto her every day of filming, and she had to be cut out and sewn back in if she needed to tinkle.

I enjoyed this forum post of behind-the-scenes makeup about ten time more than I enjoyed the film itself.

The film is fine once you realize that "try harder" = "turn off your ethics module."

seeing these photos really emphasizes the human / not human aesthetic that they handled so masterfully in this film. wow!

Yeah, these were some amazing practical effects. I actually thought they were some next-level CG, because they just looked too good.

Of course, then they turned around and put Guy Pearce into Dan Aykroyd's makeup from Nothing But Trouble. But nobody's perfect.

ALTERNATE JOKE (PLEASE SELECT ONLY ONE): Now, Guy Pearce's makeup, on the other hand...I kept expecting the Vengabus song to play and then he'd start dancing.

I did a doubletake here at the notion of stuffing cons fans into my neck.

Certainly wouldn't do much to alleviate the sweat issue, no.

some more really nice shots are available at Creatures Inc Ltd's albums on FB, including their work on Dark Knight, Game of Thrones and Clash and Wrath of the Titans

I'm always disappointed when they take a young adult or middle-aged person and plaster a bunch of wrinkles and brown spots on them thinking they're making him look old. Cast an old person!

Needs naked "before" pic. You know, so we can fully appreciate the artistry of the "after" photos.

I just realized that Ian Whyte is Gregor Clegane in "Game of Thrones." Pardon me while I collect the bits of my blown mind.

Cast an old person!

This was my one disappointment with Prometheus. I'd imagine they were trying to tie it back to Peter Weyland's Ted Talk, but I think it would have been really great if they trotted out an uncredited Peter O'Toole for old Weyland.
