Seriously, Rick Motherfucking Froberg. Dude started so many amazing bands, I wouldn't be surprised if he anonymously guest sessioned on Spiderland, Daydream Nation, and Surfer Rosa and just forgot to tell people.

Hey thanks. Hope you enjoy. Last time I looked there were only a few live tracks here and there on youtube –– seemingly by the same two people Gitty and trickledownblog (e.g. If It Kills You, Do You Compute, Golden Brown / Bullet Train to Vegas (from the show in the main post), Caress, Sinews, and O' Pencil Sharp). Now there seems a good deal more footage from those two and a few others.

Drive like Jehu in '92 at Al's Bar (another full set, of which one of the single tracks above is part of).

Jehu in Corvallis, Oregon again in '92 in two parts. Part 1, Part 2. Reis in a suit. Tight. Might be my favorite for getting a good angle on the drums. And, here they are at CBGB in two parts (1994) part 1, part 2. Both of these we owe to whoever passed these on to Chunklet.

There's a bit more that I found today but I haven't watched it yet -- it's another two parter. part 1 and part 2.

Uh yeah, I killed a couple hours today with Froberg and Reis. I didn't even post the Hot Snakes stuff I watched.

As much as I love Night Marchers, Obits, Rocket From the Crypt, etc I think they're at their best when playing together.

Oh man, I was telling my wife just yesterday that, now that Refused has reunited, the only band left on my "Fantasy 90's All-Star Reunion List" is Drive Like Jehu. Fingers crossed!

I've always thought their guitar riffs sounded like various submarine alarms going off, which I mean as a high compliment. I wish these guys would get back to making epically weird music like this again. I'm a bit disappointed by just how normal the Obits sound.

Sometimes in January, the Casbah (basically, home base for '90s alterna-bands from San Diego) has oddball reunion shows to celebrate their anniversary. I coulda sworn Jehu or some other Reis band reunited for one of those, but I might just be imagining it or confusing them with one of Rob Crow's billion bands. It would only be a show or two anyway.

I can't go dropping names like that without leaving a link.

Tremendous. This is what rock music ought to sound like. If you're in a rock band and it doesn't sound like this, knock it off.

LionIndex perhaps you are thinking of Uncle Joe's Big Ol' Driver?

Yeah, I know they did a show, as did Lucy's Fur Coat and the Dragons, and I think Three Mile Pilot did one a while ago. All the guys in those bands are pretty much still hanging around town, so spot reunions aren't really a big deal for them.

That was towards the end of the cool deep ellum area in Dallas. Fond memories.

Meanwhile in Tampa...

God, what a great time to be a kid. What a mess. A glorious mess.
