Reading on the subway

In celebration of reading on the subway. You can do it standing, sitting, or hunched over. Alone, together, or synchronized. Young or old. Casual, natty, or costumed. Exposed or covered up. Electronic, print, or sometimes both. But regardless of medium, so incredibly engrossed.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, no biggie but there's a still-open recent thread about subway reading photos here so it'd make more sense to just toss these in there as a comment. -- cortex

Lovely photos. Lovely memories. I good book makes an annoying commute turn to pleasure.

Enjoyable photos. I just spent a long weekend in Brooklyn for the Mermaid Parade and watched people on subways packed with spangles and nudity still lost in their reading. A good book is often the best company.

Sometimes it makes the commute seem too short!

Also, just now noticed the comment from the guy reading New York Triolgy saying "hey, that's me!" How cool, how often does that happen?

People also do it on buses, commuter trains and ferries. But the subway is where I usually find myself wanting to hug someone if they're reading a great book.
