Igor, do you remember the songs we used to sing in the mother country?

Last year, UK beatboxer Beardyman (previously, twice) released an album with the song Vampire Skank. Recently, that track was remixed by UK producer Doorly. The remix was paired with a video, made largely with puppets.

I like this. I'm sure it is somehow low culture, but that makes me like it even more.

I love beardyman, but never realized they were singing "I love dubstep" until this video (which is awesome).

I liked it best without sound on.

Beardyman is fucking awesome. Check out this amazing performance from the 2011 BBC Comedy Proms, as well. Genius.

If you like Beardyman but would prefer less dubstep, he currently has 90 videos on his YouTube account. Of those, I'd like to highlight his improv sets from the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Archive.org view of the website): Unshaved Episode 1 (48 minutes), Episode 2 (37 minutes), and Episode 3 (25 minutes).

You know those 2-hour long BBC Essential Mixes which are chockful of great music and interesting sequencing decisions? Beardyman made one... solely with his voice and a few gadgets. Here's a video.

I think I've rehashed this comment a few times, but that's because I'm in awe of Beardyman.

Thanks for the post, flt. Really liked the remix!

Beardyman is legitimately one of my favorite musicians and I love seeing everything he does, so thanks lazarus!

I could take or leave the remix in the OP, though.

Beardy man is awesome. I went out and bought some of the gadgets he uses, but I can't make them do the same tricks he can make them do. Maybe I need a rubber duckie.

These are excellent recommendations for a Beardyman primer! Also, allow me to add this performance on Conan. He has that certain type of charisma that is so frequently the result of being successful at performing on the streets for tips. And he's just freakin' talented as hell.

I love the YouTube commenters assuming the whole thing's a dig at Skrillex. (Which does fit, once it's pointed out...).

Here's Beardyman at some sort of Google event, sharing the stage with Nathan Lee. Who beatboxes through a flute. A flute!

Beardyman at some sort of Google event (and a few other non-traditional hip-hop instruments), previously.

Beatboxing with a flute, previously.

Some call it "fluteboxing."

Gosh, he was fantastic live in Detroit a couple years back. Holy crap, this video... I almost gave up on it, but worth it!
