Get my broker on the line! Tell him to invest in alcohol, futons and party hats!

Dammit, if he was going to be in Philly two weeks earlier I could have had the greatest wedding of all time.

I hope he likes board games. I should stage our very comfortable sleeping sofa with a table set for board games. And dig out the mini fridge. Then I'll make a little sign and post it where he can see the lovely den of BOARD GAME MADNESS AND SLEEPYTIME tableaux.

The Kansas phone number as official contact makes me think something is not quite kosher here. Not much fun happens in the old 785. Of course, Bill Murray is welcome anytime in swing through the 785 and prove me wrong. We do have both a kiddie pool and margaritas.

(A comment on the linked site says the number goes to the Westboro Church....)
posted by zizzle at 8:08 AM on July 11, 2012

Yeah, a quick Google search says that that's the phone number for Westboro Baptist. Har har.

On preview: as mentioned in a comment on the linked article.

Thing is, it's Bill Murray.

We may never know...

Google the phone number on the flyer. Then do not click on any of the links.

Also, never ever preview. It makes for such originality!

*sigh*

Blurg. It sounds as if I've been fished in. I stop all rational thought when it comes to Bill Murray, my self-adopted Uncle.

I would be honored if someone would delete this thread.

This is the saddest story, because Bill Murray would have been in Columbus on August 21, but now I guess it's just a ploy to annoy WBC. And crush the hearts of millions!
posted by ChuraChura at 8:16 AM on July 11, 2012

Totally fake. Bill Murray would never advertise how awesome he is. He just is.
posted by Potomac Avenue at 8:22 AM on July 11, 2012

This has to be a hoax.

However, it is true that Obama is auctioning off all the pot seized in drug raids.

Oh, Super Official News is an Onion type site. Nice.

Sounds like a secular seder...

Nooooooooooooooooo! Don't delete the thread.

Honestly, when I clicked [more inside] I clicked the previously links instead of the story itself, and thought it was just a meta post and an invitation of random for him to join up / go to a meetup / crash at his own private metafilter air b'n'b.

Oh, Super Official News is an Onion type site. Nice.

Dear Fundamentalist Christians,

I am sorry I laughed at you when you fell for some crazy Onion story about how Harry Potter was actually training kids to be wizards/love Satan.

I know now what pain you felt when you found out that was not true.

yrs
Cool Internet

ps - You do know that's not true, right?

Why do people keep picking up these superofficialnews stories as if they're real?! This is the same place that started the whole Big Lebowski 2 thing that every idiot I know reposted on Facebook.
posted by matt_od at 8:44 AM on July 11, 2012

They sound fairly authentic, actually. Whoever's writing those articles knows how to actually write press releases. Most hoaxers are much less savvy.

It would be very cool if Mr. Murray heard about this, and actually did it. If Internet reputation can be believed, this would be right up his alley.
