Bikinis that match book covers. Matchbook is a tumblr that features bikinis that unintentionally match the cover art of well known books.

A lot of these are really stretching to make the point, but the ones that work are uncanny.

Like what the hell is this?

THAT IS A LION NOT A TIGER oh my god

This is great. I'm still looking for a perfect swimsuit and I'm reading Red Plenty. Can someone please find me a perfect match?

Those are awesome for the most part.

To be pedantic "swimwear" is a more accurate descriptor. Some of those aren't bikinis at all.

One shouldn't mix literature and bikinis. I kind of feel like my vision has been adversely affected. Soon I won't be able to see well enough to read at all. On the bright side I won't need mittens this winter.

Odd place for a lion in any case.

I don't need an excuse.

One shouldn't mix literature and bikinis.

Both require repeat encounters for a full appreciation.

pouring over swimsuit pictures

Hopefully just poring. "Pouring" suggests perhaps a different activity.

No, but this is.

Also, that is a really terrible bathing suit. I appreciate that sometimes the goal of a bathing suit is sometimes to draw attention to one's breasts, but the only thing I can thing looking at that is "that lion's ears are really misshapen and weird, and also why are the ears coming through whatever crack in whatever doorway it is peeking through."

Pfffft. Humbert Humbert would beg to disagree.

Not sure if some of these are really meant to get wet:
The bathing suit: Mare One Piece by Missoni. $534
The bathing suit: The King Panel One Piece by We Are Handsome. $340.
...

The real surprise - the cheapest one:
The bikini: Abbie Polka Dot by Victoria’s Secret. Top $11.99

This persuades me that my blog idea "Turds that match famous penises" is not, in fact, the result of far too much scotch, shit acid, and head-butting the wall for fifteen hours straight.

At what point do we file things under "loltumblr?"

Every time I see one of these emerge, I have a hard time imagining the moment when the person who started it said "this is the thing that I do now. Guess I'll get to work on it." It's much more amusing and valid (and assuring) to me when I hear someone say "hey, wouldn't it be funny if there was a tumblr that did this," than having it actually happen.

Maybe there's an inherent hypocrisy in this Portlandia-aligned view of mine-- furthermore, maybe that hypocrisy is what makes it fun in the first place.

OTOH, maybe this is my just first honest-to-goodness "get off my lawn" moment. I'm sincerely not sure.

I've no idea why, but I think that lime and black monstrosity is really quite attractive. But I'm a professional geek, so my opinions on fashion are automatically void.

I commonly say ". (dot) tumblr (dot) com" after someone does something or if I notice something that I think is particularly interesting and yet just ripe for internet memes.

A friend of mine dropped an egg on the ground and we were commenting on how the splatter patterns made a funny face. I quickly responded ".tumblr.com".

I would think that a velvet one-piece would be really unpleasant once wet.

Like the books you read while wearing them, these swimsuits are not meant to go into the water.
