Long live Gore Vidal.

Gore Vidal was the first literary author that I fell in love with. I read him and knew it was good and important even though I didn't know why. It wasn't till I was considerably older that I actually understood what it was I was reading.

I haven't read any of his works for over a decade, but I will miss you Mr. Vidal. Yes I will.

I guess this means Lisa Simpson and I might finally have a chance to catch up with him in the kissing boys department.

One day his sequel to Myra Breckenridge, Myron, will be rediscovered. It's one of the most enjoyably berserk, completely unhinged, hilariously high-concept books ever written, and I think people didn't know what to make of it when it came out, but are ready for it now.

RIP, you gloriously droll lunatic.
