We should be nurturing corporate spectacle.

Let's put a stop to the love. You've perhaps heard of comic Mike Birbiglia's forthcoming film, "Sleepwalk With Me," in theaters starting August 24th. (Written and directed by Mike Birbiglia. Co-written and produced by Ira Glass.)

You've perhaps heard that Ira Glass is promoting the film on This American Life, exhorting fans to get their local indie movie theaters to screen the film.

Well, the latest salvo in the culture war has been fired. Whedon to Birbiglia and This American Life: Drop Dead.

Funny, I like Whedon more and more as he becomes more popular, what a nice guy. Always loved Birbigs too, also a super nice (and funny) guy. I certainly think some parallels can be drawn between each of their places in their individual industries.

Queue the mefi-snark-sharks, there's blood in the water.

SPOILER ALERT: This would be interesting if it was real. Or funny.

Made me think of Whedon's intro to Serenity's premier.

Oh no, Joss is already falling under the spell of the corporate monster that is Disney/Marvel!

(For about 2 seconds, I had a heart attack reading the text here.)

Can't Joss Wheeon of all people afford a decent webcam?

As I kept watching it I worried that Whedon was going to kill off this Joss character just as I was getting to be emotionally invested in him.

Anti-Marketing. It's the New Hotness. It's how Gay Rights supporters filled Chick-Fil-A restaurants last month. It's how NBC got record ratings for the Olympics. It's making a chubby Korean nerd a Hip-Hop superstar. It'll probably be credited for whoever wins the Presidency this year. A mass murder at a midnight showing might have made "John Carter" a blockbuster hit. Time to buy stock in Progressive Insurance.

No. No, I haven't. Nor have I heard of Mr. Birbiglia before, though I would be pleased to learn that his friends call him "Mr. Big."

You linked to the Whedon video twice, but not to the trailer of the film in question once?
