I don't see the problem here. If Ayn Rand can be Ryan's favorite author, even though he apparently dislikes everything she has written, then his position on RATM is wholly consistent.

I remember Rage Against the Machine being explicitly held up by Republican presidential candidates in the 1996 primaries as an example of what was wrong with American popular culture. One of them even deliberately got the name wrong at first in order to show that while he knew the name of band, he didn't know too much about that sort of degenerate part of the culture. I wonder what they'd say about Paul Ryan now.
