I am Honey Boo Boo Child (autoplaying video), and I am a pageant queen superstar. Pull up a chair and grab your go-go juice, because Here Comes the Hillbilly, Again. Need a little background? Know Your Meme (potentially NSFW)

I remember when TLC used to run shows about surgeries, as in "now we will remove his appendix [CLOSE UP OF GUTS]."

That shit is everything that's wrong with America, all packaged in one show.

Toddlers and Tiaras honestly makes me wonder if maybe the terrorists don't have a point.

It's amazing that stuff like this and Breaking Bad flow through the very same screen.

TLC has become the carnival sideshow of cable networks.

GYPSY WEDDINGS! POLYGAMISTS! DWARVES! CONJOINED TWINS! PEOPLE WHO EAT THINGS THAT AREN'T FOOD!

"Toddlers and Tiaras" is only one symptom, not the disease itself.

God, people love to flip out about this stuff. Calm down! Worse shit is happening on your block this very minute.

I say good to them for getting ahead by exploiting people's stereotypes of low-income white people. I say bad to TLC for exploiting people's stereotypes of low-income white people.

I love that girl so much. Her mother is just vile though. I only hope that this exposure can lead to good things for Honey Boo Boo (if she really wants a life in the spotlight).

I watched the first pair of episodes with some friends who were super excited about it, and found it pretty gross. Poverty tourism. But you know what? These people are supremely confident in who and what they are. If you have a vile reaction to it, or think they are being horribly exploited, I think it says more about you than them.

I don't know what is worse about this. The exploitation of a child by her mother, the exploitation of this family by TLC, or the fact that this sort of exploitative TV appeals to so many TV viewers?

It just seems so damned irresponsible even if we assume that the family knows what the hell they are getting into.
