EveryLibrary is "seeking initial funding resources to become established as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit social welfare organization chartered to work exclusively on local library ballot initiatives." “The need for voter education and getting out the vote for that local millage, levy, bond, or referendum is most glaring when we lose at the ballot box by 3% or 5%,” [the founder John] Chrastka went on to say. “When the number of voters we need to touch, to educate, to activate are in the dozens or hundreds, a little bit of PAC money and some solid campaign consultancy can make all the difference.” The PAC is aiming to initially raise $50,000 by election day.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Yeah, see related Metatalk discussion; it's fine to post about interesting projects if there's substantial "this is an interesting thing on the web" content but the "and they're raising cash!" angle is pretty much a no-go. -- cortex

Libraries need to talk to voters directly about the bonds, levys, milliages, and referendum that build, renovate, or expand library services for the next generation.

It should be levies, millages, and referenda (or at least referendums), right? This is why we need to fund libraries, I guess.

I love this thing, but it's still very much in an active funding stage.

(I don't know if this post will be deleted, but, either way, this Metatalk discussion from the other day might be of interest.)
