Oh so spooky (In a Disney sort of way) The main page is annoying if you dislike applets but this site explores Disney's Haunted Mansion with an obsessive zeal. Of course there *is* all sorts of cool stuff going on behind the scenes. Like the guy who broke his neck . . .

(And who knew the ride seats were called doombuggies a.k.a "omnimovers", and that they are patented?)

jeremias: that's probably the most frightening thing I've ever read. Disney; applets; obsessive zeal: do you want to scare the living daylights out of us? It's no wonder nobody's commented until now. ;-)

(Great link; brought on horrible memories of Anaheim; with the Disney Nazi hovering overhead - thanks, brrr....)

Yes, not Roy. Roy is only a Republican.

Hey! Just because we're the foundation of the Evil Empire doesn't mean we don't feelings. ::sniff::

Very cool link - I'm a Haunted Mansion junkie, and this one has it all. If you're interested in the recent Nightmare Before Christmas holiday makeover, Mouseplanet.com has a special section with images and descriptions.

I spent about an hour at this site one day this summer--and I don't even like the Haunted Mansion (yes, I know, it's a heretical thing to say). But I was fascinated by how low-tech much of the HM is. Guess I had more fun at the site than I ever did on the ride...

Coincidentally, if you feel like nostalgia give a listen to the original ride recording.

You know, Disney refused to let Soviet Premier Nikita Krushchev go to Disneyland when he visited America.

I thought that was an urban legend, and it was really the State Department. (There used to be tight geographical restrictions on where Russians were allowed to visit, and Orange County/LA County were off-limits because of the aerospace industry there. (Or maybe my version is the urban legend, I dunno. (Snopes page)))

oh, the Haunted Mansion...y'know, I must have really scared easy when I was a kid. (see CYOA thread) because I was terrified of the haunted mansion. I remember my sister and I celebrating - I must have been 7 or 8 years old - when they closed down the ride while we were still in line.

of course, that's sort of a bittersweet memory, because my father loved the haunted mansion, and that was the last time we went to Disneyland before he died. :(

happy halloween, dad.
