Public Policy Polling aren't exactly strangers to controversy. The company recently found itself in the spotlight over a controversial poll that showed Republican candidate Todd Akin ahead of Democrat candidate Claire McCaskill immediately after he made his now-infamous statement that women cannot become pregnant from "legitimate rape". Conservatives howled that the self-admitted Democrat-aligned polling firm tilted their results to make it seem like Akin could win and keep him in the race to allow the vulnerable McCaskill an otherwise difficult victory, despite PPP's very solid performance record. And today, after a Twitter post slamming Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post, conservatives on Twitter organized around the #tcot (Top Conservatives On Twitter) hashtag started bombarding the official PPP Twitter feed with accusations of bias and shilling for George Soros, a satire account was set up: @PPPPolling.

In my opinion, the account broadly fails as a "satire" per se; it doesn't illuminate any kind of underlying issue or trend and it's rather obvious that the person behind the account doesn't view their posts as hyperbolic. However, what it does succeed at is being a unintentional yet very biting parody of how the far-right conservatives view polling agencies that aren't Rasmussen and Fox News. Or, more darkly, a peek directly into the mind of conservatives and how they view the media and polling agencies that disagree with what they want to believe.

In my opinion

You need to keep that in the comment section not the FPP.

I got two tweets in (to the one that implied that people just vote for Obama because they're afraid of being called racists) and had to run away. Yeesh.

There's several polls from other companies that have shown Akin ahead. So this is some weaksauce conspiracy-accusin' from a group that loves to see itself as the victimized minority whenever possible
