necco! call me provincal but one of my favourite candy companies is the new england confectionary company -- there's really nothing like riding the no 1 bus over smoot bridge and seeing the candy coloured smokestack rising from their roof. okay, so sweethearts taste like chalk and necco wafers are out and out disgusting; there's nothing quite like the sky bar.

That takes me back... Necco wafers. What an amazing candy. You could chew 'em, suck 'em, use them to jam coin-op machines, use the peices to cut almost anything, sell the powder from the bottom of the packet to highschool kids for $70 a gram... endless possibilities.

wow, i was never quite so creative with the necco wafers. though i do use them to "buy" the local political satire rag; one must know what one's enemies are up to even if you don't want to line their pockets. ;)

When I was too young for communion, my brother and I would use Neccos and give each other the "body of christ".

My father is a (retired) minister, and when I was a kid my mom would occassionally make the unleavened bread we used in church. Any leftovers we would eat with lunch. The body of Christ goes well with pot roast.

As for Necco wafers, I don't think I'd ever heard of them until a few weeks ago, but they still seemed to stir fond childhood memories in me the first time I ate them. Hmm.

The Sky Bar is a four-flavored choco-gasm. That's probably the number one reason why I'm glad I moved to Boston.

Back in my drug-fueled college days, one of my favorites experiences was eating Necco wafers while on acid. Amazing texture, bright colors, and the green ones tasted exactly like dishwashing detergent. Or so we imagined.

Ahhh, good times.

Necco Wafers come in a TART version that ROCKS! Walgreens used to carry them, but don't anymore. I've got to find a new supplier...

Must order this SkyBar, too.... Damn, wish I was closer to Boston!

Neccos are pretty good. What I could never figure out were those orange things that looked like outsized peanuts and had the consistency of stale cake icing.

I always found it odd how Necco was over by the MIT campus; as if there was some kind of candy Manhattan Project requiring this proximity...

One of the funniest things I ever heard was Howard Stern claiming that Necco Wafers work as tokens in the Triboro Bridge toll baskets. No Necco EZ Passes, I suppose...
