In an alternate universe, in the early 1990s, George Lucas signed off on an anime version of the Star Wars Galaxy. Or as one fellow envisioned such an event

I keep waiting for the ships to transform.
Also, the way the TIE pilots' helmet fade to show their faces makes this a lot harder to watch. When I was a kid, stormtroopers were just faceless things. Now they're people. I'm not sure how this makes me feel.

RakDaddy, the weirdest part to me was seeing that one of the tie fighter pilots was a woman. I'm pretty sure we never see any females in the Empire... It's all Stormtrooper dudes and their sneery, middle-aged white guy bosses. The Rebellion, meanwhile, has some women in high positions, but I don't recall ever seeing any female soldiers. I guess that's just a reflection of the era when the movies were made. (I'm talking about the original trilogy, of course, because that is the only Star Wars there is.)

For this to be anime, there should be more characters with ridiculous cleavage, starting with Vader.

holy crap that's well done. i love the helmet cut-aways to show which team member was in which ship. is there no sound for copyright reasons? i want more and more.

However, Lucas DID have something to do with The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network. It's good, it's pretty damn dark and sometimes quite disturbing, and very, very pretty (SPOILERS APLENTY).

I keep hearing people marvel about Clone Wars so I guess I should just give in and check it out, but that visual style just doesn't do it for me at all. I always think it looks like a video game cut-scene from five years ago.
The short lived cel animated version, on the other hand, is gorgeous.
