Is the war on voter fraud fraudulent?

Where do we in the U.S. draw the line when it comes to voter fraud? I'm an election judge in Baltimore County, MD., so this is relevant to my interests. The public story lines seems to be that the Republicans are the guardians of voting purity, while the Democrats say it's an attempt at voter supression. Is the law of diminishing returns at work here? Is any fraud too much fraud?

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, this an interesting subject but this isn't a great way to frame a post for Metafilter; better to stay away from personal "here's my position/context" stuff and leading questions, that's more something for posting on your own blog. -- cortex

Are you asking us a question? This doesn't really seem like an FPP, especially with the personalized ("relevant to my interests") framing.

Anything which dissuades more legitimate voters from voting than it dissuades (almost-non-existent) fraudulent voters from voting is an injury to the democratic process
