They're kind of neat, but this is definitely not what comes to mind when I hear, "gestural." I guess it technically fits, but I find these to be incredibly mannered.

I agree, cmoj - "gestural," for me, calls to mind single-stroke paintings. Still, I like the effects that Doyle gets.
