Nostalgic for old video games? Try the java arcade machine emulator. Play classic games such as Tempest, Ms. Pacman, and Arkanoid, arcade perfect and available on the internet via the magic of java.

Drool...thanks, phatboy! Space Invaders is just as great as it was back in 1981/1982...oops, I just dated myself big-time. Way cool - great emulator - sounds, colors, effects.

This is a major waste of time. Like I have nothing better to do. Already spent 30 minutes on it.

If you need to find me during the next four days, I'll be sitting in my room in my underwear, eating microwave turkey nuggets and trying to regain my former radness on Arkanoid.

I came to an internet cafe to mail everyone to say I'm back home in a couple of days. Just nipped into MeFi as a precursor to see whats new and lo....

It is now nearly 2 hours and 200 baht later, I'm still playing Arkanoid and I'm out of cash. I'm going to have to start smiling and not understanding english any minute (seems to work for the locals) to avoid trouble at the imminent currency short fall situation in the hat wallet.

Arkanoid got me in money trouble before. On those rare occasions my mum sent me down to the shops as a kid to buy bread or milk, I invariably went and stuffed all the change in the arcade machine down the chippy instead.

Sorry mum, guess I'll never learn!

After spending my afternoon playing all the latest (crappy) games for the new XBox console, I'm more nostalgic than ever for the video games of yore. Thanks for the link.

I just noticed that this guy has a nintendo emulator as well. It seems to have a few bugs, but it is still really cool. I wasn't aware that stuff this impressive could be done in java.

Compared to some of the emulators I've seen on the net, this one is awesome. Thanks for the link.

Most of you probably already know about this, but I feel I should mention MAME to those who haven't. It's available for just about every platform, and you can play arcade-perfect emulations of nearly every conceivable arcade game. It even emulates the coin slots.
