Blogdexter searches the Blogdex for the URL you feed it and gives you the results. At the Blogdex page. Isn't that what that "url search" link--at the Blogdex--page is for?

There's also a serious flaw in that if you don't specifically include the http:// prefix, it simply doesn't work.
I'm sorry, but as much as I found some of the other stuff at Biz's kind of interesting, this just looks like a big wankfest.

I'm not sure, but I think Blogdexter was written before the URL Search at Blogdex was implemented.

there's also a serious flaw in that neither blogdex or blogdexter interpret http://domain.com and http://domain.com/ as the same link. also, blogdexter assumes any link entered needs to have / appended and does so without checking whether you already included it.

Hijinx: Seems you're right. Did a little poking around in the Blogdex blog, and it looks the search was added first week of September.

Erm ... the blogdex I'm looking at doesn't seem to think http://www.mysite.mung/ is any different at all to http://www.mysite.mung ... perhaps it's your browser ;)

walrus: you are right! they've fixed it. previously i would get different results from the URL without the trailing /.
blogdex still insists on appending the , though.

anybody know why the 3 top results appear to be the same URL but contain different data?
posted by quonsar at 7:34 AM on November 5, 2001

One of them has a space character before the http: Look at your browser's address bar. Can't explain the other.

of course there's also always blogdex.pitas.com

It appears to be an atomz search, so it probably doesn't update more than one a week.

I'm glad to see that blogdex finally implemented a comprehensive index page for each url, so that e.g. one can find out how many links and where it ranks, roughly. They're getting better and better faster than Google ...
